Discover the best banking podcasts, including commercial, investment, and retail banking shows.

According to Data USA, there are more than nine million people employed in the banking industry. So why is it so hard to find banking-related podcasts?

Most podcast listening platforms don’t provide separate categories for subjects as specific as ‘banking.’ And between international shows, cancelled runs, and infrequent uploads, it could be tough to find a podcast that fits your unique needs.

The good news is, there are some great shows out there to choose from. They also run the gamut for listeners at every level of experience.

We’ve done the heavy lifting for you by collecting the 12 best banking podcasts. We also provide links to each podcast on the roster so you can decide whether it deserves a spot on your feed.

Why do Banking Professionals Need Industry-Specific Podcasts?

There are, quite literally, hundreds of podcasts covering finance. But only a very small percentage of these revolve around banking.

It’s not hard to see why: banking is a relatively small niche for personal listeners. Many casual podcast listeners prefer tuning into shows about personal finance. Plus, succeeding as a banking podcaster can be surprisingly difficult, given the niche’s size.

So why should banking professionals care about tuning into banking-specific podcasts? And why go through all the trouble to find a curated list?

Frankly, it’s because:

  1. Banking podcasts make you a better professional. That way, you’ll be even more equipped to manage customer risk, drive portfolio growth, fight financial crime, and much more.
  2. Banking podcasts fit into your personal and professional life. You get both entertainment and value in a neat little package. No more feeling like you’ve wasted your commute.
  3. Banking podcasts provide value to your clients. The better you serve clients, the more the word gets out. This could have an exponential impact on the growth and trajectory of your employer, business, and personal income.

Now that we’ve discussed what you stand to gain from banking podcasts, let’s dive into the best of the best so you can pick the right fit(s) for your needs.

This guide shares what we’ve learned about building successful podcasts across the financial services landscape.

The Best Banking Podcasts of 2026

We’ve broken these up into four separate categories:

  • Podcasts for commercial banking and lending
  • Banking and capital markets podcasts
  • Retail banking podcasts and consumer finance shows
  • Fintech podcasts and banking education

We also provide some honorable mentions further down in the guide.

But for now, we’ll start with the first category on this list:

Podcasts for Commercial Banking and Lending

Total commercial real estate lending is on the rise in the US. The MBA found that total CRE activity topped $498 billion in 2024, with no signs of slowing down.

This means two things to the commercial banking professional: that commercial lending is poised to grow fast and that staying abreast of trends will be more important than ever.

The following podcasts can help you accomplish both goals by keeping you informed of new commercial banking and lending information.

The BAI Banking Strategies Podcast

The BAI Banking Strategies Podcast is the best banking podcast for commercial banking trends.

The BAI is a nonprofit compliance training organization serving financial institutions across the US. So as you can imagine, its podcast helps clients practice what they preach. Topics covered range from fraud in the age of AI to the role of cards within payment platforms

But while this is an incredibly valuable podcast, it’s not necessarily what you’d call a ‘regular’ show. Uploads range anywhere from once monthly to three times per year. The good news is, there’s quite a backlog. There are roughly 300 20-minute episodes and counting.

The Purposeful Banker

The Purposeful Banker is the best banking podcast for studying Gen Z borrowers.

The Purposeful Banker podcast, in Q2’s own words, “is focused on the issues, industry topics, and concerns on the minds of bankers, especially in the commercial banking market.” You’ll notice semimonthly episodes covering two specific buckets: commercial banking trends and Gen Z lending (called the ‘Inside Gen Z’ series).

While The Purposeful Banker may not be updated often, each 30-minute episode is chock-full of gold nuggets for young or beginning bankers. Its 4.9-star rating speaks for itself; there’s only been a single one-star review since the podcast began publishing in 2015.

The Risk Management Association (RMA) Podcast

The Risk Management Association (RMA) Podcast is the best banking podcast for risk modeling

The RMA podcast is a seven-episode series from The Risk Management Association covering the ins and outs of (you guessed it) model risk management. Episodes cover topics like credit risk, regulatory expectations, and how to build a commercial loan portfolio strategy. Keep in mind RMA itself is partnered with BAI, so you can expect a similar tone of content here.

Just keep in mind this isn’t an active banking podcast; the RMA stopped publishing episodes in August of 2022. That’s not to say there’s no value to glean, though. You’ll find dozens of episodes that still hold water today, like the early warning signs of loan distress and the role of risk management in M&A

P.S., interested in an active risk management podcast? While not specifically banking-related, you might explore Risk Ready – Presented by The Private Risk Management Association.

Banking and Capital Markets Podcasts

If you serve in a more hands-on capacity within capital markets, the following podcasts may offer some value. We’ve picked two of the best to help set your expectations.

Capital Markets Quickie

The Risk Management Association (RMA) Podcast is the best banking podcast for risk modeling.

If you don’t have much time to spend listening to podcasts, the Capital Markets Quickie is likely a viable option. Each three-minute episode covers timely topics in the world of capital (think banking performance and regulatory updates) published every weekday.

Keep in mind that Capital Markets Quickie is geared a bit more toward investors. Unlike other podcasts on this list, it’s not strictly for banking professionals. But if you’re not too much of a stickler for professional-only content, it’s a decidedly useful podcast for quick insights and market details.

Ahead of the Curve: A Banker’s Podcast

Ahead of the Curve: A Banker's Podcast is the best banking podcast for practical tips and tricks for financial institutions.

Ahead of the Curve is Abrigo’s dedicated podcast offering interview sessions with some of the world’s biggest banking leaders and advisors. Each half-hour episode covers topics unique to the banking industry or, at least, puts on a lens specifically for the industry (think CFPB 1071 or cannabis in banking).

This podcast is a fit for any banking leader interested in exploring macro trends and global market activity. You’ll also have access to commentary around subjects impacting institutional banking and capital markets. Just keep in mind publications aren’t that consistent: you’ll see a new episode once per month, if you’re lucky.

Jim Marous is a top-five banking influencer and the informative host of Banking Transformed. He also has access to some fairly renowned guests; think Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank and Colton Pond from FinTech NerdCon.

Most episodes of Banking Transformed explore digital transformation, customer experience, and innovation in retail banking. But why take our word for it? A great ‘sample’ flavor of what to expect is this 15-minute episode covering the Digital Banking Transformation Myth.

Fraud Talk

Fraud Talk is the best banking podcast for fraud prevention in retail banking.

Fraud Talk’s subject matter is relatively straightforward: consumer banking, marketing strategy, customer expectations, and fintech competition. It’s hosted by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and covers practically everything and anything you could imagine about banking fraud. Some episodes cover compliance training, while others zero in on brand risks from fake job offers.

Just keep in mind that some past listeners have complained about poor audio quality. You can offset some of this with high-quality headphones. Although the good news is that many of these reviews are from the past, Fraud Talk’s audio quality has improved greatly in recent years.

Main Street Banking: A Podcast for Community Bankers

Main Street Banking is the best banking podcast for institutional insights in retail banking.

If you’re a community banker (or considering joining the industry), Main Street Banking will be an indispensable resource. This is a bimonthly show hosted by The Barret School of Banking, which is widely considered one of the biggest career boosters in the industry. As you can imagine, it’s not necessarily for beginners: the goal is to boost the knowledge of existing career-oriented individuals.

Fintech Podcasts and Banking Education

Part of banking education includes looking towards the future. That’s exactly what the following fintech podcasts intend to do.

We’ll start with one of the most popular shows on this list:

Fintech Insider (11:FS)

Fintech Insider is the best banking podcast for fintech consulting insights.

It’s easy to see why Fintech Insider is one of the longest-lasting banking podcasts in the world. It’s hosted by 11:FS, recognized five times as the best UK consultancy of the year, and hosted by world-class experts like founder Ross Gallagher. Episodes drop twice per week on Mondays and Thursdays, lasting anywhere between 45 and 60 minutes each.

Much of this content circles around interviews with market experts (aka, Insights), but its ongoing News series can help you stay abreast of any major changes. But you’ll also have access to the occasional live episode, like is agentic commerce the future of payments? Live from Paris with J.P. Morgan.

The Fintech Blueprint

Fintech Blueprint is the best banking podcast for evaluating frontier technology.

The hosts of The Fintech Blueprint believe that “finance is being pulled apart by the forces of frontier technology.” So to combat this, they’ve created a roadmap explaining exactly how bankers can navigate the shift.

Each episode of The Fintech Blueprint covers a top-of-mind topic with an industry expert, like Mike Sha or Jess Houlgrave. Episodes are almost always 45 minutes max, but don’t worry: there are biweekly uploads, so you’ll have plenty of time to finish what you started.

Banking on Digital Growth

Banking on Digital Growth is the best banking podcast for financial brand leadership, marketing, and sales.

Banking on Digital Growth is exactly what it sounds like: a podcast offering educational content on digital banking, customer journeys, onboarding, and financial brand strategy. It’s not necessarily focused on fintech per se, but it certainly covers the niche of banking education.

You don’t need to be a complete beginner to enjoy this podcast; episodes get into the weeds of how running an institution works, replete with suggestions for optimizing your sales and marketing tactics. It also goes beyond traditional banking institutions. If you’re a credit union, for example, you’ll find plenty of resources around how to leapfrog off of fintech.

  • The Lykken on Lending Podcast: Your host David Lykken breaks down the ins and outs of mortgage banking; perfect for the banker involved with commercial lending trends. • Financial Times (FT) Banking Weekly: Unlike most of the other banking shows on this list, FT Banking Weekly provides a globally focused analysis on capital markets. Most episodes cover topics around major banks, market movements, and M&A activity. Just keep in mind this show has been archived; episodes ceased in April 2020.
  • Planet Money: This NPR show isn’t strictly banking-focused, but it’s still excellent ‘edutainment’ explaining consumer finance behavior. Each episode covers a unique financial angle and its impact on everyday people (like memecoins, for example). It helps that each episode is typically less than 30 minutes long, which fits perfectly into the dead space of a commute, a short coffee break, or an abbreviated lunch hour.
  • Fintech One on One Podcast: You can probably guess what this podcast covers:  one-on-one interviews with some of the best and brightest in fintech. These bite-sized interviews typically last 45 minutes or less and explore topics like digital banking tools, payment rails, open banking, and more. It’s also the longest-running fintech interview show, with episodes published since 2013.
  • For Your Innovation: If you’re more interested in the what than the who behind innovative tech, For Your Innovation (or FYI) is worth considering in your lineup. New episodes are published approximately every other week, with video content available on YouTube. Full disclosure: these video and audio podcasts are proudly produced by The Podcast Consultant.
